Fight For The Children was founded just over two years ago and in that short time our organization has experienced great progress and has dramatically transformed.
What started out as an idea in 2006 has grown into an internationally recognized organization with a successful clinic in Kenya and a robust tuition sponsorship program. Currently, the organization has several projects underway, including a Children's and Mothers' Health Center and a Health Post in Rwanda, and a Health Advocacy program in Longido, Tanzania.

Design for the Children is an open, international design competition challenging architects and designers from around the world to develop a sustainable, culturally responsive, pediatric clinic model for East Africa. Architecture for Humanity: Seattle is partnering with Fight For The Children to explore an adaptable pediatric clinic model that can respond to the specific health needs of all communities throughout Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania.

The community of Fulton Missouri and Callaway County have partnered with Kibungo Rwanda as sister cities. Fulton/Callaway residents will turn the vision of a Children's & Mothers' Health Center into a reality for the community of Kibungo Rwanda.

Westminster College student, Scott Oldebeken, was featured in the Kansas City Star on Monday, June 16th. Oldebeken applied and received the Projects for Peace grant and traveled to Kibungo Rwanda with four Westminster classmates. To read the entire article, click the below link.

The community of Fulton, Missouri is now a sister city to Kibungo Rwanda. Fulton is the home of board member Dr. Robert Hansen and Executive Director Kathryn Hamilton Morgan. On Saturday, February 9, 2008, FFTC will hold its inaugural, One Heart - joining two worlds dinner and auction in Seattle. Join us for a special evening to make a difference.
The evening will include dinner, provided by McCormick & Schmick's, an auction, and an opportunity for you to hear about the work FFTC is doing in East Africa. Tickets will be available for $95/person; individuals and organizations are welcome to purchase a table for ten. Proceeds from the event will help fund our current children's clinics in Uganda and Kenya, as well as future clinics in Rwanda and Tanzania.

Dr. Bob Hansen, Director of Counseling & Health Services, recently embarked on a mini-sabbatical to Africa to work as a part of the development team of Fight For The Children. Fight For The Children was invited to meet Uganda's Vice-President, His Excellency Prof. Gilbert Balibaseka Bukenya. Brad Berg, MD/PhD and Kathryn Morgan met personally with His Excellency on September 4, 2007 during his visit to Seattle, WA.
The meeting was a great success as His Excellency is a physician and knows first hand the health issues in his country. We look forward to future opportunities and continued growth in Uganda.

Our clinic in Dunga Kenya opened on August 1, 2007 at the Dunga Orphanage School. The clinic employees one Clinical Officer and is currently seeing 30 to 40 patients every day.

Dr. Brad Berg, Founder, Kathryn Morgan, Project Coordinator, and Brian Morgan will be visiting Westminster College in Fulton, MO on September 24, 2007. They will be visiting and presenting to several classes, school organizations, and communitiy members.
Dr. Robert Hansen, Director, Counseling & Health Services at Westminster College will be doing his sabbatical with FFTC this fall and will be visiting Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tazania. We would like to thank Dr. Hansen for his contribution to FFTC and for coordinating our visit to Westminster College in September.

A group of seven including, founder Brad Berg and project coordinator, Kathryn Morgan, were in Kabale Uganda on July 21, 2007, as Fight For The Children celebrated its 1st year. The team was received by Ambassador Browning at the US Embassy upon their arrival in Kampala and met with the Hon. Sseguje Batte, Ugandan Minister of Rural Development. During these talks, they started an official collaboration with the Ugandan government to begin the groundwork for a clinic in the western province of Mbende.

We are pleased to announce that a team of eight volunteers will be in Uganda and Kenya from 10 July - 31 July 2007 to work on the Kabale and Dunga clinics. While there, we will complete the renovations and stocking of the clinics and plan on hiring the clinic staff. We have also been invited to visit US Ambassador Browning in Kampala on 12 July and tour northern Uganda with the Secretary General and Parliment to look at future clinic sites on 13 July. We have another two volunteers following in August to further develop our programs in our current sites.

Teams are being set up currently to go to Kenya and Uganda June-August to facilitate the opening of our first two clinics. This is an amazing accomplishment given that we only began operations less than twelve months ago. Our current goals are to have eight more sites chosen by the end of 2007 with those clinics being open by the end of 2008.
